What is the difference between convection and regular radiant baking?
- Regular baking is the result of heat radiating upwards from the lower element during the cooking process. Convection baking utilizes a dedicated ring element which surrounds the convection fan, located at the back of the oven, to evenly distribute heat around the food. Convection baking can sometimes decrease the time required to cook certain foods or allow food to be cooked at a lower temperature. Please refer to your owner's manual for suggested temperature and time adjustments.
Can I manually light the gas top burners?
- Yes, the top burners can be lit without power by using a hand held BBQ lighter or long matches to light the gas. Please refer to your owner's manual under "Power Failure Operation" for full details.
How do I clean my cooktop and burner bowls?
- For burned spots or spillovers: remove the excess soil with a razor scraper available at appliance retail stores or from Heartland. To use the scraper: hold at about a 30 degree angle to the cooktop and scrape off the soil. Then, scrub the cooktop with cooktop cleaning cream. Rinse well and wipe dry. Please refer to your owner's manual for full details. To order replacements contact your dealer or Heartland at 800-361-1517.
How do I clean the stove top and colored enamel panels of my Legend?
- Porcelain and enameled panels are very serviceable and simple to clean; however they will not withstand rough handling or abuse. Never place a cold wet cloth on a hot surface (the porcelain top is glass and sudden changes in temperature may cause cracking). To clean all porcelain and enameled surfaces use warm soapy water, glass cleaner or non-abrasive cleaner with a soft cloth (avoid abrasive cleaners). If acid based foods such as lemon and tomato juice or a starch based food/liquid like boiled over pasta spills, wipe it at once to prevent staining.
How do I clean my Paragon & Toledo`s stainless steel finish?
- The stainless steel can be cleaned with any non-abrasive stainless steel polish metal. If acid based foods such as lemon and tomato juice or a starch based food/liquid like boiled over pasta spills, wipe it at once to prevent staining. Always clean in the direction of the grain to avoid leaving scratch marks.
What is the BTU rating of each burner?
- All Paragon & Toledo and Legacy free standing ranges and Cooktops are equipped with 15,500 Btu burners, each capable to simmer down to a constant 500 Btu setting (30" units have four 15,500 Btu burners, whereas 36" units are available with either six 15,500 Btu burners or four 15,500 Btu burners with a 15,000 Btu center grill. Since our products are CE certified for European markets, they are required to meet higher efficiency standards than the current North American requirements, thus, our burners are over 10% more efficient than similar sized burners. This is achieved through our superior grate design which ensures heat loss to the surroundings is minimized. Less wasted energy results in better heat distribution to the cookware and less burden on the environment.
Can I leave the oven racks in the oven while self-cleaning?
- It is not recommended as the finish will became dull & discolored. Consequently, the racks will be a lot harder to slide. To remove the racks, push them all the way to the back, then lift the back of the rack away from the supports and out. Reverse steps to position the racks back in the oven. Similarly, the rack supports should also be removed - simply grasp each support and pull the bottom half out first and then the top. For full details and diagrams, please refer to your owner's manual.
Should I do anything before performing a self-clean?
- Oven racks and support need to be removed prior to a self clean or the finish will became dull & discolored. Consequently, the racks will be a lot harder to slide. To remove the racks, push them all the way to the back, then lift the back of the rack away from the supports and out. Reverse steps to position the racks back in the oven. Similarly, the rack supports should also be removed - simply unscrew the knurled nuts to disengage the rack supports from the oven walls. For full details and diagrams, please refer to your owner's manual.
Can I purchase different colour panels for my Legend range?
- To completely change all the colored components of your Legacy would be very time consuming and difficult to perform in the field (it would basically require the entire stove to be taken apart, and thus it is highly discouraged). Individual replacement panels, should they be damage with usage, are available for all current colors but should only be replaced by someone with a mechanical predisposition. (Note: in some states, only qualified gas technicians can perform any work on a gas appliance, even cosmetic changes and therefore you will need to check your local codes for compliance. Ideally an appliance repair company should be contracted to perform this type of work.) If you wish to order replacement panels, please contact your dealer or Heartland directly at 877-650-5775 with your serial number to ensure the correct parts are ordered.
Why does my range surface seem so hot?
- To minimize the possibility of electric shock, unplug this appliance from the power supply before attempting any maintenance or cleaning.
- Check the pan size. Oversized pans will trap heat between the bottom of the pan and the cooktop; this will transfer a lot of heat to the cooktop. Also, the flames from the burners should not curl around the edges of the pans or cookware. Turn the knob down until the flames are approximately the same diameter as your pan - this is the optimum heat transfer position, otherwise, if flames curl around the pots, the extra heat is lost to the surrounding and not focused on the cookware
- Pans or cookware should not be larger than 11 inches for optimum performance - larger pans may cause erratic sparking as flames "float" away from the burner heads and cause the re-ignition feature to be engaged.
My oven and burners do not work. Why?
- To minimize the possibility of electric shock, unplug this appliance from the power supply before attempting any maintenance or cleaning.
- Check the fuse box or the breaker boxes to be sure the breaker(s) are "On" or that the fuse is good. If the fuse has failed, it will need to be replaced. Reset breaker for range by turning it to the "Off" position, wait one minute, then turn it back to the "On" position to reset the breaker. You should do this even if you can light the top burners and/or the clock on the range is working.
- Try resetting the electronic control. If there is power to the unit and it has an electronic control, disconnect power for 15-30 minutes and re-try. If this fails, contact your local dealer or service depot for assistance.
- Check the power cord to make sure it is plugged into the wall outlet. The power cord might be unplugged or loose. Pull the range away from the wall to have access to the plug. For your safety make sure circuit breaker or fuse is disconnected before checking power cord for a loose connection.
- Make sure gas is turned on to the range. Refer to installation instructions for location of gas shutoff valve. Make sure the range power cord is plugged into a working wall outlet.
My oven does not heat, but the burners light. Why?
- To minimize the possibility of electric shock, unplug this appliance from the power supply before attempting any maintenance or cleaning.
- If there is power to the clock, ensure that after pressing your desired cooking feature and setting the temperature with the "up" and "down" arrows, you press the "go" button (running person figure).
- If a self clean has just been completed, it is possible that the reset limit may have popped. To reset this limit, press and release the red button located underneath the stove, halfway back between the right front leg and the right rear leg. Try your oven again, if there is still no heat contact your dealer or closest service depot for assistance.
- Check the bake element. Turn your range "Off" and remove fuses or turn breaker "Off", then unplug the range. Carefully inspect the bake element (lower element) for cracks or breaks. If cracked or broken, it will need to be replaced. For replacement parts contact your dealer or Heartland toll free at 800-361-1517. Even if the bake element is not broken or cracked, it may still need service. You can contact your local dealer or closest service depot for a qualified service technician in your area.
All or some of my gas burners do not light. Why?
- To minimize the possibility of electric shock, unplug this appliance from the power supply before attempting any maintenance or cleaning.
- When lighting the top burners, turn the knob to the number "3" setting on the control panel as this will provide the fastest and best lighting position. Then turn the knob to the desired setting. Do not turn the knob to the large flame symbol as this is not the best lighting position (there are two flame symbols on the control panel - a large flame and a small flame - these are simply the indicators for where to turn the knob for "high" and "low" heat).
- Make sure the burner heads are not loose and seated properly, not tilted, and do not rock or wobble. Each burner ring (the bottom brass colored one and the top black one) has a locking pin on the ring which must be inserted into a notch on the base. See your Use and Care Manual for details and drawings.
- Check the burner heads and the igniters for dirt and debris. If some of your burners work, check the malfunctioning burner heads for dirt or debris that may be clogging the holes. Carefully clean out any stopped-up holes with mild soap and water. Be sure to dry burner heads thoroughly before re-installing. Similarly, ensure the tips of the igniters are free of dirt and debris - clean gently with an emery board if needed.
- Check the power cord to make sure it is plugged into the wall outlet. The power cord might be unplugged or loose. Pull the range away from the wall to have access to the plug. For your safety make sure circuit breaker or fuse is disconnected before checking power cord for a loose connection.
- If none of the igniters "click" when you turn "On" the surface burner, but the oven bakes and broils, you will need a service technician. Contact your local dealer or service depot for assistance.
My gas burners have erratic flames. Why?
- Make sure the burner heads are not loose and seated properly, not tilted, and do not rock or wobble. Each burner ring (the bottom brass colored one and the top black one) has a locking pin on the ring which must be inserted into a notch on the base. See your Use and Care Manual for details and drawings.
Why do all igniters click when I turn only one of them on?
- This is normal. All igniters will spark and click when any one surface burner knob is turned on as they are all tied into the same controlling component. However, only the selected burner will light.
Why are my igniters sparking or clicking all the time?
- Make sure the burner heads are not loose and seated properly, not tilted, and do not rock or wobble. Each burner ring (the bottom brass colored one and the top black one) has a locking pin on the ring which must be inserted into a notch on the base. See your Use and Care Manual for details and drawings.
- If they are clicking in the "off" position, make sure the knob is turned completely to the "off" position and the knob has popped back out.
- Moisture after cleaning can also cause the igniters to click. Let the unit dry for a few hours. You may wish to unplug the range to prevent annoyance with the sparking.
- Check the pan size. Oversized pans will trap heat between the bottom of the pan and the cooktop; this will transfer a lot of heat to the cooktop. Also, the flames from the burners should not curl around the edges of the pans or cookware. Turn the knob down until the flames are approximately the same diameter as your pan - this is the optimum heat transfer position, otherwise, if flames curl around the pots, the extra heat is lost to the surrounding and not focused on the cookware.
- Pans or cookware should not be larger than 11 inches for optimum performance - larger pans may cause erratic sparking as flames "float" away from the burner heads and cause the re-ignition feature to be engaged.
Do you have any cooking tips?
- Use cooking utensils with flat bottoms.
- Cook fresh vegetables with a minimum amount of water in a covered pan.
- Watch foods when bringing them quickly to cooking temperatures at "High" heat. When food reaches cooking temperature, reduce heat to lowest setting that will keep it cooking.
- Always turn the burner "OFF" before removing pan.
Where is my oven vent?
- The oven vents are located underneath the backguard and dissipates into the room via a series of slots. Please do not remove this Backguard at any time, or cover it as it will affect the natural and necessary air flow out of the oven.
I get different baking results than I did with my old oven. Why?
- Oven controls can vary from oven to oven and it’s possible that over time, the oven control on your previous range may have drifted to a higher or lower temperature setting. Your new oven will be properly calibrated, so recipes may not turn out as expected at first. Follow recipes exactly. If a couple of recipes are not turning out, then you may want to revise the cooking times rather than recalibrating your new oven. If many recipes are not turning out, then the temperature on your oven control may need to be calibrated (on certain models only) or replaced. Contact your dealer or local service depot for service.
My oven temperature is not correct. Why?
- To minimize the possibility of electric shock, unplug this appliance from the power supply before attempting any maintenance or cleaning.
- Make sure your oven preheated. Your oven needs time to preheat before baking. Most pies, cakes, biscuits, etc., have such short cooking times that failure to preheat the oven can make a significant difference in your cooking results.
- Check the type of cookware you are using. Your cookware may be having an effect on your baking results. The type of cookware you use can have an effect on your baking results. If you are using dark baking pans, be sure to reduce the oven temperature 25 degrees. These pans retain heat and at the regular baking temperatures some foods may burn or overcook
- Make sure heat is not blocked from circulating in the oven. Do not use aluminum foil on your oven shelf or the natural air flow will be affected and block the circulation of heat in your oven. You should always allow 2" around the back & sides of the oven shelf for proper heat circulation.
- Check the placement of pans in your oven. Pan placement may be affecting how your oven heats. How and where you place pans in your oven will make a difference. Make sure that you leave at least 1-2 inches between pans and between the pans and the side/rear walls of the oven to ensure proper air/heat circulation
- Check the rack position. Rack position can also be critical to proper baking. See your Use and Care Manual for details.
- Make sure the oven door was not opened during cooking. Opening the oven door frequently when cooking will increase cooking time. Also, check the oven gasket for rips or tears. A torn gasket will need to be replaced. For parts information contact your local dealer or Heartland directly at 800-361-1517
- Turn your oven on and make sure that the bake element (the one in the bottom of the oven) glows in the bake cycle. Then set the oven control to broil and watch the broil element (the one in the top of the oven) to see if it glows, finally turn your convection element and feel the air being circulated for heat. If not, there may be a malfunction in the element. Contact your local dealer or service depot for a qualified service technician in your area.
Do you make disposable liners for the burners?
- Unfortunately we do not have disposable liners for the burner bowls and we are not aware of any source in the market that would have a size compatible with the dimensions of our burner bowls. Furthermore, it is not be advisable to add a liner to the burner bowl as it would alter the air flow pattern around the burners (by reducing available air to the burner rings)
My range surface seems too hot. Why?
- To minimize the possibility of electric shock, unplug this appliance from the power supply before attempting any maintenance or cleaning.
- Check the pan size. Oversized pans will trap heat between the bottom of the pan and the cooktop; this will transfer a lot of heat to the cooktop. Your pans should not hang over more than 1" on each side of any surface burner. (e.g., on an 8" burner the maximum pan size should not exceed 10 inches. On 6" burners the pans you use should not be larger than 8 inches.)
- Transfer of heat from the burners and cookware to the cooktop can be significant and the cooktop can become very hot. Caution should be used when cooking to avoid touching any hot surfaces.
- It can take between 30 and 90 minutes for the oven to cool down after a self cleaning cycle. Please allow the oven enough time to cool down. Once the oven is cooled sufficiently, you will be able to unlock the self clean latch and open the door.
- It may be a normal occurrence caused by baking, broiling, or roasting for an extended period of time. On your range, the oven is vented up through the backguard and heat from the oven may be directed to the top. This may make the cooktop hot if you bake, broil, or roast for an extended period.
Why does my range make noises while cooking?
- Paragon & Toledo and Legacy free standing ranges use a fan to cool down some internal components. This fan automatically starts up during prolonged oven use and/or top burner use. The fan may stay on after the cooking is finished and cycle "on" and "off" for some time after. During the self-cleaning cycle the fan will always automatically turn on as soon as the door locks to cool the electronics and will shut off after the self clean is completed. If the cooling fan remains running constantly or for several hours after a self clean or a cooking cycle it is possible that the limit may have malfunctioned. If the fan stays on after the self clean function is complete, it may simply mean that the latch has not fully retracted (simply pull the latch outwards and allow to snap backwards). If the problem persists, please contact your dealer or local service depot for service assistance.
- It is normal to hear the temperature control click on and off during baking, broiling and self-cleaning cycles.
- It is normal when using the top burners to hear the odd "clicking" noise, especially if pans are large or there is a slight air draft in the room when cooking on low settings. Spill overs will also cause the top burners to "click".
- If using the convection feature, the sound of a fan running during baking or broiling is normal.
- Cracking and popping sounds caused by the heating and cooling of metal during the cooking or cleaning functions are considered normal. It is simply the expansion and contraction of the metal.
Is the cooling fan supposed to come on by itself when I’m cooking?
- Yes, Paragon & Toledo and Legacy free standing ranges use a fan to cool down some internal components. This fan automically starts up during prolonged oven use and/or top burner use. Please contact your dealer or local service depot for service assistance.
What type of cookware can I use on my cooktop?
- Flat bottom pans are essential for good cooking performance. Most current brands sold today have flat bottoms. Much older, used cookware and/or thinner cookware will show signs of no longer being flat. Non-flat pans may crack the glass
- Use Medium or Heavy-Weight cookware.
- Stainless Steel is highly recommended, but they can leave residues on the grates that appear as scratches. A sandwich clad bottom is especially good because it combines the durability and adaptability of stainless steel with the heat conduction and distribution of aluminum or copper.
- Heavy-Weight aluminum cookware is also recommended. It conducts heat faster than other metals and cooks evenly. Aluminum residue sometimes appears as scratches on the cooktop, but these can be removed if cleaned immediately.
- Copper bottom pans are also good, but they can leave residues on the grates that appear as scratches. These can be removed if cleaned immediately, but do not let a copper bottom pan boil dry. An overheated copper pot will leave a residue that will permanently stain the grates.
- Porcelain/enamel pans give good performance only if they have a thick, flat bottom. Avoid boiling these pans dry, as porcelain can melt and fuse to the grates.
- Glass or ceramic cookware is not recommended. These pans may scratch the surface. Glass is a poor conductor of heat so cooking times will be longer and they may require constant attention during cooking.
- Stoneware is not recommended. It may scratch the surface and will give poor performance.
- Cast Iron and Coated Cast Iron cookware is also not recommended. It is slow to absorb heat and could scratch the grates. Once this type of cookware heats up, it holds an intense amount of heat which is transferred to the cooktop.
How do I clean the porcelain coated grates?
- Use cleaning products such as CeramaBryte™ or hot soapy water.
Can I put the burner rings in a dishwasher to clean?
- Yes, burner components can be placed in a dishwasher. Please ensure they are fully dry when placed back on the stove top or excess moisture may cause random "clicking" from the igniters. Once the rings are dry, sparking should cease. Burner components can also be cleaned with warm soapy water.
What is minimum CFM rating for a hood for the Legend ranges and cooktops?

All Legacy and Paragon & Toledo Cooktops are shipped with a standard 3 prong 120V plug.
Do the burner bowls come in any other colour?
- Black is the only colour available at this time.
What are the top surfaces made of?
How do I remove scratch marks from my range?
- To remove scratch marks, use a sanding block in the direction of the grain and buff the entire surface, not just the affected area. When buffing a scratch, the surface will have a more cloudy appearance which will over time turn to the original shiny finish. In order for the repaired scratch to be homogeneous with the rest of the adjacent surfaces, it is important to buff as big an area as possible.
Do I have to vent my Legend range to the outside?
- Yes, your Paragon & Toledo or Legacy range needs to be vented to the outdoors (Heartland includes an adaptor to facilitate the attachment of the ducting to the hood when the vent hood is purchased from Heartland). Venting outside will require 8" diameter ducting (all ducting to be supplied by others and available at most home improvement centers). See Installation Requirements for specific venting specifications for your model of range.
Can I purchase the unit without a vent hood?
- All the Paragon & Toledo and Legacy ranges require the use of an overhead vent hood. Your Paragon & Toledo or Legacy is not certified to be vented by Downdraft ventilation systems. The minimum Hood extraction requirements for 30" models is 450 CFM; whereas for 36" models you will require a hood that can extract a minimum of 600 CFM.
- For 30" models, the minimum CFM rating is 450 CFM. Heartland carries a range of high end exhaust hoods which are available in matching finish or colors to complement your range. For the 30" models our hoods are rated at 500 CFM.
- For 36" models, the minimum CFM rating is 600 CFM. Heartland carries a range of high end exhaust hoods which are available in matching finish or colors to complement your range. For the 36" models our hoods are rated at 900 CFM.
Should I do anything before performing a self-clean?
- Large spills should be cleaned up and removed before performing a self clean. Overly soiled ovens may not be completely cleaned by the cycle if excess dirt is present and the heat cannot penetrate and burn off all the accumulated material - small streaks may remain. Never use a commercial oven cleaner as this will damage the finish. Do not clean the gasket.
Why does my oven smoke so much during a self clean?
- Any excessive amount of spillover (juices or liquid grease) which is not baked on should be wiped out of the oven before running through a self-clean cycle. If smoking occurs during cleaning, it is caused by excessive grease or soil (or a utensil, etc.) inside the oven. We recommend that you ventilate the kitchen by opening windows or turning on the exhaust fan while performing the self-clean function. Allow oven to cool at least one hour. Correct the condition which caused the smoking. Start the self-clean operation again
I left the oven racks and/or supports in the oven during self clean - what can I do?
- You can treat the metal rack supports and racks with vegetable oil. This will assist in making them slide easier. This procedure will need to be repeated periodically. To purchase replacement racks and/or rack supports please contact your dealer or Heartland at 800-361-1517.
Why does my oven smoke so much when I broil?
- You may be placing food too close to the heating element. Adjust oven rack to a lower position. Do not line broil pan with aluminum foil, this creates excessive smoke. Trim off any excess fat off meat before broiling and avoid adding too much excess water.
- Smoking may be normal if food being broiled is high in water content (such as chicken or turkey).
Should I leave the oven door open during broil?
- The oven door should always be closed during broiling as it could damage the controls on the timer.
What can I use to clean the spots that remain in the oven after self-clean mode?
- You may use hot water & detergent or a paste of baking soda & hot water on difficult stains, rinse well with vinegar water to remove all residue. Never use a commercial oven cleaner.
What type of oven bulb does my Legend oven take?
- The Paragon & Toledo and Legacy ovens utilize two 10W Halogen light bulbs; Type T300 which are available at appliance retail stores or can be purchased from your dealer or Heartland at 800-361-1517
When is it necessary to preheat my oven?
- Preheat is recommended for delicate foods that have shorter baking times, such as cookies, cakes, and muffins. These types of foods require more precision timing for the results you are looking for. Conversely, roasts and casseroles do not require as precise timing; always refer to the recipe for exact instructions - keeping in mind that cooking times, even with true and tried recipes can vary from one day to another.
How long should my oven take to preheat?
- Average preheat times will vary form model to model but are usually between 12 minutes & 15 minutes at a oven temperature setting of 350 degrees F. Please note that this time can vary greatly depending on the amount of voltage going to the range. If the range is getting less than 240V, then the preheat time will increase accordingly If food is placed in the oven during the pre-heating cycle, it will increase the overall time it takes for the oven to reach temperature. It is recommended that food be placed in the oven after the preheating cycle is completed, especially for baked foods like cookies and cakes which may be cooked too fast in the bottom and not completely throughout
Is it normal for my oven to take 25 minutes to reach 450 degrees F?
- Yes, Paragon & Toledo and Legacy oven cavities are amongst the largest in the industry (the 30" model has a 4.4 cu.ft. oven; the 36" models have a 5.9 cu. ft. oven). Therefore preheat times will vary form model to model and may be longer than your previous appliance. It is not unusual for preheating to 350 degrees F to take between 12 minutes to 18 minutes. Please note that this time can vary noticeably depending on the amount of voltage going to the range. If the range is getting less than 240V, then the preheat time will increase accordingly. If food is placed in the oven during the pre-heating cycle, it will increase the overall time it takes for the oven to reach temperature. It is recommended that food be placed in the oven after the preheating cycle is completed, especially for baked foods like cookies and cakes which may be cooked too fast on the bottom and not completely throughout.
Is there a conversion kit available for my gas range from LP to Nat Gas or vice versa?
- Yes, Paragon & Toledo and Legacy ranges and Cooktops can be converted in the field from LP to Natural Gas and vice versa. It is however highly recommended that the range be ordered with your specific gas requirement from the dealer at time of purchase. If moving and requiring to change gas setting, please contact your dealer or Heartland with your serial number to ensure the correct conversion kit is ordered. All gas conversions need to be performed only by a qualified gas technician holding a valid license in the state in which the conversion is being performed.
Will I loose BTU output if converting my Natural Gas range to LP?
- No, our conversion kits are designed to provide the same performance whether the burners are set for Natural Gas or LP. We accomplish this by having a reversible regulator within the appliance that can be set for either LP or Natural Gas and having the components controlling gas flow to the burners adjusted to compensate for the difference in incoming gas pressures.
Can I purchase a Legend range without the self-clean feature?
- At the present moment we only offer the Paragon & Toledo and Legacy free standing ranges with self-clean feature included as standard.
Can I purchase a Legend range with a gas oven?
- At the present moment we only offer the Paragon & Toledo and Legacy free standing ranges with an electric oven, thus providing the ability to utilize several cooking options not easily achieved by all gas ovens.
Are there any accessories for my Legend range?
Can I cook in degrees Celsius instead of Fahrenheit?
- Yes. To change degree settings, press the bake or broil button twice in a row (without pressing any other symbols) to toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius. Please note that this process will need to be repeated after power interruption to the stove.
I cannot set my clock. Why?
- The clock may be in the "lock out" mode if there are three red lines across the right side of the timer. These three lines indicate that safety "lock out" feature has been activated (this feature is handy to prevent young children from playing with the timer or during cleaning of the front panel and avoid accidentally turning on a cooking feature). To de-activate it, push and hold the cancel button (X) for 3 to 5 seconds until the lines disappear. The feature is activated by pressing and holding the cancel button (X) for the same 3 to 5 seconds.
Why are there three red lines across my clock?
- The clock may be in the "lock out" mode if there are three red lines across the right side of the timer. The feature is activated by pressing and holding the cancel button (X) for the same 3 to 5 seconds.
What does it mean when the clock displays F1?
- F1 on the clock means that the oven probe is either disconnected from the timer or it has malfunctioned. Remove power from the range by tripping the breaker or unplugging the range and wait a few minutes. If F1 appears again, contact your local dealer or local service depot for assistance.
What does it mean when the clock displays F2?
- F2 on your clock means that the oven door failed to lock. Press the Cancel (X) button and check the latch to determine if there are any obstructions. If this is a recurring problem, contact your dealer or local service depot for assistance.
What does it mean when the clock displays F3?
- F3 on your clock means that bake/broil limit in your unit has tripped. Remove power from the range by tripping the breaker or unplugging the range and wait a few minutes. If F3 appears again, contact your local dealer or local service depot for assistance.
Why does my range not sit flush against the wall?
- The Paragon & Toledo and Legacy free standing ranges require a 7/8” gap at the back of the stove to allow proper airflow for cooling. There is a factory-installed plate at the back of the range that ensures this gap and is not to be removed or damage due to lack of proper air circulation could occur.
Who do I call if my range requires service?
- Please contact your local dealer or your local service depot for a qualified service technician. You may also contact Heartland direct at 1-800-361-1517.
Do you have any cooking tips?

For full installation details please refer to the Installation Requirements.
What material are my grates made off and are they durable?
- We are very proud of our 100% porcelain coated grates as they are designed and fabricated to withstand the everyday use of intense cooking. During the fabrication process, the use of low carbon steel ensures that the metal will not expand and contract during typical cooking usage - thus resulting in an extremely long expected life. However, if the grates are dropped onto a hard surface (ie. floor) - damage may occur.
What is the amperage draw of my range?
- The amperage draw of your range will depend on the voltage to the unit and the watt rating of your range. For a complete listing of watt ratings for all our appliances - please refer to the Installation Requirements section or refer to the back of your owner`s manual. Using the wattage listed for your range and the voltage at the wall plug, your local electrical codes will then determine the size of wiring and breaker needed. We are unable to recommend wiring and breakers as local codes vary from state to state - the electrician performing the installation will have no problem figuring out the amperage required for your breaker and wiring. The formula to determine amperage is Watts/Voltage = amps.
Can I use my range in a restaurant or other commercial application?
- Warranty only applies to single family domestic use. Any commercial application will void the warranty as these units are not certified for commercial use (commercially used appliances are subject to different government tests and certifications). Commercial applications include, but are not limited to: hotels, bed and breakfast, cafeterias, bakeries, home catering, rental property, and any other installation where the appliance is utilized for the purposes of a business.
